I have been certified as a personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise since 1997 and am also a Corrective Exercise Specialist through NASM, as well as a member of IDEA. I began my personal training career at a health club and then decided to begin working independently so I could better service my clients. My personal training experience includes working with men and women who have diverse health and fitness needs including body fat reduction, body toning and muscle building, functional training, postural awareness and post rehabilitation.
I became trained in a fitness based yoga in 2000 and enjoy teaching small groups and individuals the benefits of fitness based yoga.
My pilates training began in 2003 and I was trained in the Stott method of pilates in 2003. I have been trained to instruct on both the mat and reformer and am also trained to teach pilates to clients with various injuries or limitations. Pilates is a great form of exercise for anyone who has back-related issues and especially for anyone who would like to improve their posture and strengthen their body from the inside out.
In January of 2006 I took the wellness coach training with Wellcoaches. The coaching training has strengthened my skills in goal setting and has really helped clients achieve and maintain their goals. Coaching can be done in addition to personal training or on it's own.
Corrective Exercise Specialist
In order to continue improving the quality of life for my clients, I went through the NASM training to become a Corrective Exercise Specialist. This education increased my knowledge in assessing muscles imbalances and designing programs to correct the imbalances and other muskuloskeletal injuries.
In 2008 I became a mother. Being a mother of three has certainly given me additional insight into finding the balance of taking care of ourselves as well as our familiy.
My individualized attention, continuing education and knowledge of fitness and motivational skills allows me to assist my clients in achieving and maintaining their fitness goals. I strongly believe in incorporating mind and body to help my clients stay Healthy and Active for Life!
